Star Wars Resistance

Image
Happy Star Wars Resistance Sunday! Yes, tonight the newest episode of Star Wars Resistance airs, "The First Order Occupation"! Because of that, I felt it was a good time for another blog discussing this show. As you may, or may not be aware, I co-host Resistance Reactions ,  which is a part of the Coffee With Kenobi family of podcasts, in which we review each episode of Star Wars Resistance  as they air. This is just like we did for  Star Wars Rebels on Rebels Reactions . For those of you not familiar with Star Wars Resistance , it is an animated show which airs on the Disney Channel on Sundays at 10:00 PM. It takes place approxamately 6 months prior to the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens . It follows the story of a young New Republic pilot named Kazuda Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean) who joins the Resistance as a spy. His assignment has him joining team Fireball as a mechanic on the Colossus, a floating platform on the water planet Castellon, ...

My 2019 New Year's Resolutions

Since I missed New Years due to my social media break, it seems only right that my second blog back should be about my New Year’s resolutions. So with that, allow me to share what I have decided to do in 2019. Like most people I make resolutions each year, and like the majority of people, by February, I have failed miserably and have gone back to my old ways. Its happened way too many times for me to be comfortable with. I have always said I’m not a quitter but my track record with these resolutions would say otherwise.

Social Media Blackout and the Future...

HAPPY 2019!!!! Yes, I know, I’m a month late.  If you know me, and/or follow me on social media, you know that on December 17, 2018, I signed out of all my personal social media accounts across the board. My last post on each account contained a letter with a brief explanation and a time frame for my return: February 1, 2019. Well, its officially February 1, 2019.  I’m back ya’ll!  Miss me? Well, I missed ya’ll and I have a lot to say. So this is the first in a series of blogs you will see coming hard and fast about a variety of different topics so stay tuned. This one is going to be a little more serious as I discuss a question I have been asked a lot over the last month and half. It will be a long one so please, bear with me. <insert bear growling noise here>

New Life Perspective

If you follow me on Facebook or on Twitter, you are aware of the craziness of my life over the last 13 months. For those of you who don't know or don't know everything that has happened, here is a brief summary: My parents home burnt down losing almost everything they own. (May 2016) My wife had a heart attack caused by a birth defect we never knew existed. (July 2016) I broke my hand, requiring surgery and keeping me out of work for 4 weeks. (April 2017) My wife had gallbladder surgery. (June 2017) We got home Memorial Day to discover structural damage to our home which after 2 months of investigating by engineers hired by the insurance company says that it was caused by ground shifting which damaged the foundation as well is responsible for all the structural damage. Unfortunately they told us this past Wednesday that its not covered due to a specific exclusion in our homeowners contract that excludes damage due to the shifting or movement in the ground. We have been t...

NCAA Playoff Rant

First off, I want to apologize for this blog up front.  This is the first post in a while and I'm gonna be complaining so I'm sorry upfront.  Lets talk NCAA football.  For years college football fans, myself included, clamored for a more fair system to replace the Bowl Championship Series. For me, the nail in the coffin of the BCS was several years ago when undefeated Boise State was blocked from the championship game for a single loss team. This, in my opinion was a colossal failure and injustice. Because Boise State came from a "weaker" conference, they weren't considered as good as teams from the SEC, ACC, or other conferences who had lost one or even 3 games. They still ran the gambit, ended their season without a single loss and wasn't given their fair shot at the National Championship because of their "strength of schedule". Fast forward to now. We are in the thick of the new NCAA football season and its new playoff system. The syste...

A Geek Moment

So if you know me well, you know I'm a geek. I'm one of those strange geeks that doesn't have a problem loving both Star Wars and Star Trek. You always hear you have to choose between the two, but I'm here to say that's not true. I am huge fan of both for many reasons and through the blog, you will see a geek moment posted which will give some insight into my enjoyment of each, but for now, I must focus on Star Wars. With Episode 7 fast approaching, its an exciting time for anyone who is a fan of the Saga. For most of us, 2015 cannot come fast enough, but its still a ways away. So in the mean time, I have been biding my time till then with re-watching the Saga, yes all 6 movies (I do like the prequels too), re-watching The Clone Wars TV show, loading my iPhone up with all the John William's scores I can get my hands on, as well as listening to great Star Wars Podcasts like Coffee With Kenobi, Rebel Force Radio, and the Cantina Cast. All provide different insig...

Storage Finds!

So I know it's been a while since I have posted anything. There has been spot going on in my life lately that has kept me away from fandom and blogging for a little while longer than I wanted. I'm trying to catch up here at my daughter'a piano lesson. First off thanks to all you who have sent messages and comments of support for my family. For those who aren't aware and one of the reasons I've been away, my 90 year old grandmother is in her last days with us. And since this was an overnight change in her health, I had to make an emergency trip to Alabama to see her, which heartbreakingly will most likely be the last time. I'm blessed with a great job who worked with me to get me up there to say my good byes and is continuing to work with me  to get my princess to school while my parents are still up there with my grandmother. I'm blessed and grateful for my cousin who is giving of herself day in and day out to take care of Mammaw in these last days and ma...
