My Geek Moments

Yesterday was the 87th birthday of one of the greatest composers of the modern era, the great maestro John Williams. To celebrate the man who wrote the music that defined my youth, I thought I would share my favorite Williams compositions with you to enjoy. And yes, I honestly mean his music defined my youth. The soundtracks composed by John Williams have been my go to music for all occasions for at least the last 2 decades. Maestro John Williams  I am far from a musical scholar so I won't try to bore you with details of the artistry that Williams infused in each piece of music. One thing question I always hear get asked is "what is your favorite Star Wars movie?"  And I have heard every answer under the sun. So that got me thinking which of the movies do I feel is my favorite? Which holds the fondest memories of me? Now the general consensus is that The Empire Strikes Back is the greatest of the the 6 movies and I would have to agree. ESB is darker, has the start of Han and Leia's romance, Luke's first lightsaber battle, the revelation of Vader's and Luke's relationship, and the introductions to Lando and Yoda. It generated some of the most quotable lines in Saga: "Do or do not, there is not try."; "I love you!" "I know."; "No, I am your father."; and so many more! The unmatchable score by John Williams for the pursuit of the Falcon through the asteroid field is still by far my favorite of all his compositions. This tends to happen every holiday, after Thanksgiving days fly by and before you can blink its Christmas.  That's what happened to me, I can't believe it took so long for me to write a new blog, time flew by, and the news came rolling in. Whether it was new writers for both Star Wars Episode 7 and Star Trek reboot 3, or the pic of R2-D2 with J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy at the studio in England. So much news... but I need to geek out on one thing that happened this week. No, not the cool Stormtrooper t-shirt my wife got me for my birthday. I'm talking about the announcement from Disney that they reached an agreement with Paramount Pictures over the Indiana Jones property. Yes, you read it right, the future of the most famous archeologist in the history is now in the hands of the Mouse. What does this mean for Dr. Jones? To find this out lets take a look at the deal.
