Christmas and Baby Yoda

Image
One of the most popular things right now is the Child from the show The Mandalorian  on Disney+. The Child, more commonly known as Baby Yoda, has generated a huge turn out for the show and has become one of the most popular icons around right. I mean, look how cute he is, are you surprised? The Child has generated a ton of hype, from memes, to homemade collectibles, to a mad merchandising rush. I admit, I have pre-ordered some of the Child stuff that's coming out. The demand for the Child is, in my opinion, unprecedented for Star Wars. The Child seems to be the one thing that both sides of the divided fan base can agree upon. Then the other morning, I was reading my Christmas devotional. The whole focus of the devotion I'm reading is about the joy of Christmas. The joy that Mary felt being picked to mother the Son of God. The joy of Elizabeth and Zacharias as they were having John the Baptist. The joy of the shepherds who were told of the Messiah's birth by a host of

Movie Review: "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker"

This movie review will be two sections. The first will continue right after this paragraph and will contain my feelings about the movie and will be spoiler free. After the spoiler free section,  I will continue with some spoilers about the movie. There will be a bold print warning before the spoiler section starts so if you haven't seen it, stop there and come back afterwords. If you have seen it, continue on and let me know what you think. So, last night I experienced the final chapter of the Skywalker saga at a private viewing at Disney Springs. It was an incredible experience all around. I loved the atmosphere around the theater.  Members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion were there in full costume and the music of John Williams filled the air. It was simply electric. I honestly didn't think the day could get any better than that....then the movie started. I have seen a ton of movies in my lifetime. I have seen the Star Wars movies more times than I can rememb

My Top 5 John Williams Musical Compositions

Image
Yesterday was the 87th birthday of one of the greatest composers of the modern era, the great maestro John Williams. To celebrate the man who wrote the music that defined my youth, I thought I would share my favorite Williams compositions with you to enjoy. And yes, I honestly mean his music defined my youth. The soundtracks composed by John Williams have been my go to music for all occasions for at least the last 2 decades. Maestro John Williams  I am far from a musical scholar so I won't try to bore you with details of the artistry that Williams infused in each piece of music. If you are looking for that, may I recommend a podcast called The Soundtrack Show hosted by David Collins . He takes an in-depth look at the composers and music from movies soundtracks. I highly recommend it. Now lets check out my top 5. First up is a piece called "Cadillac of the Skies". It is from the 1987 movie Empire of the Sun . This is a movie set in World War 2 about a young

When I Thought I Knew It All

So to understand what I'm about to say, you must know my background. For those of you who don't, let me fill you in a little. I have grown up in the church. I mean, when I was born, my parents were youth pastors and by the time I was in kindergarten,  they were appointed as foreign missionaries with the Assemblies of God. I was in church Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. Children's church, Royal Rangers, youth groups. I did them all. I even attended a private Christian school for a while in elementary, middle school, and I home schooled through a Christian curriculum from 8th through 11th grade. I was voted as spiritual leader of the year during my 6th grade year. I was apart of the Bible quiz team in school. I then went to a Christian university where Bible classes were mandatory and chapel was several days a week. I'm not saying all these things to boost my image in your eyes cause even with how I was raised, I have still made more than my fair shar

Star Wars Resistance

Happy Star Wars Resistance Sunday! Yes, tonight the newest episode of Star Wars Resistance airs, "The First Order Occupation"! Because of that, I felt it was a good time for another blog discussing this show. As you may, or may not be aware, I co-host Resistance Reactions ,  which is a part of the Coffee With Kenobi family of podcasts, in which we review each episode of Star Wars Resistance  as they air. This is just like we did for  Star Wars Rebels on Rebels Reactions . For those of you not familiar with Star Wars Resistance , it is an animated show which airs on the Disney Channel on Sundays at 10:00 PM. It takes place approxamately 6 months prior to the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens . It follows the story of a young New Republic pilot named Kazuda Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean) who joins the Resistance as a spy. His assignment has him joining team Fireball as a mechanic on the Colossus, a floating platform on the water planet Castellon, tryi

My 2019 New Year's Resolutions

Since I missed New Years due to my social media break, it seems only right that my second blog back should be about my New Year’s resolutions. So with that, allow me to share what I have decided to do in 2019. Like most people I make resolutions each year, and like the majority of people, by February, I have failed miserably and have gone back to my old ways. Its happened way too many times for me to be comfortable with. I have always said I’m not a quitter but my track record with these resolutions would say otherwise.

Social Media Blackout and the Future...

HAPPY 2019!!!! Yes, I know, I’m a month late.  If you know me, and/or follow me on social media, you know that on December 17, 2018, I signed out of all my personal social media accounts across the board. My last post on each account contained a letter with a brief explanation and a time frame for my return: February 1, 2019. Well, its officially February 1, 2019.  I’m back ya’ll!  Miss me? Well, I missed ya’ll and I have a lot to say. So this is the first in a series of blogs you will see coming hard and fast about a variety of different topics so stay tuned. This one is going to be a little more serious as I discuss a question I have been asked a lot over the last month and half. It will be a long one so please, bear with me. <insert bear growling noise here>
